One of the biggest benefits of the modern pickup truck market is how many different models come from every major manufacturer, which means there is something for everyone. When looking at Chevy trucks in particular, there are three major players to look at: the Colorado, the Silverado, and the Silverado HD series. Within these models, you can really find pretty much anything you are looking for, which makes Chevy the perfect option for anyone looking for power, performance, and reliability in a pickup.
If you are in the market for a new pickup truck, then a 2020 model should definitely be on your radar, since they are going to offer you the latest options and most impressive features. 2019 models are a great option too, particularly if you cannot wait for one of the 2020 offerings or if the updated features are simply not right for your needs. No matter what Chevy truck you are looking for – including pre-owned models – Frank Kent Country is the place for you. Come to Frank Kent Country and see the full lineup of Chevy trucks today; we will make sure you drive away completely happy.
Although not a complete refresh or all-new design, the updated 2020 Chevy Colorado is looking like one of the best mid-size trucks hitting the road soon. The styling and powertrain options are the same as in the 2019 model, with a focus on feature updates to make an already amazing truck even better. This includes a remote locking tailgate available as an option for the starting trim and standard at higher trim levels, along with a tire-fill alert standard on all models.
Other great features of the 2020 Chevy Colorado include the Safety Package being available on more trims than before, providing features like forward collision alert and lane departure warning to more drivers. While some other Chevy trucks are certainly getting more updates than the Colorado, they do not make the Colorado any less impressive. Sometimes the best thing a company can do is stand behind something that is already well made and choose a few ways to make improvements on it.
Since the 2019 model of the Chevy Silverado 1500 was an all-new overhaul to this impressive truck, there are not many major changes coming in 2020. This is not at all unusual since the Silverado 1500 is already one of the finest Chevy trucks on the road. Rather than try to improve on what already works, we see Chevy making some fine-tuning adjustments to this model.
New exterior colors will be available on the 2020 model and some minor changes to equipment groups and package availability on some trim levels are expected. Many of these details are not yet available and they are being finalized by Chevy for future announcements. Some new trim levels might be available, and there are rumors about new features coming to the Silverado 1500 in 2020, but Chevy’s lips are still sealed on a lot of those details.
The biggest changes to the lineup of Chevy trucks in 2020 are coming to the Silverado HD series, which is getting a full redesign and overhaul. These major updates are happening for both the 2500HD and 3500HD and start with an all-new platform and the beginning of a new generation for these trucks. The exterior design is similar to the Silverado 1500 redesign from 2019, bringing the HD series up to the same standard and high level of quality.
While the all-new Silverado HD trucks will be lighter than the previous generation, they will also have a larger footprint with bigger cabs and beds. A new 6.6L V8 gasoline engine will replace the existing 6.0L V8, offering 401 hp and 464 lb.-ft. of torque for incredible overall performance. The Silverado 2500HD will have a new 8-speed automatic transmission available, while the Silverado 3500HD will have an all-new 10-speed Allison automatic transmission, which can be paired with the available 6.6L Duramax Diesel engine for an incredible level of power and performance. Maximum gooseneck towing with this diesel engine in the 2020 Chevy Silverado 3500HD reaches an astonishing 35,500 lbs – a truly astonishing feat.
While 2020 models are certainly some of the best Chevy trucks you will find on the road this year; there is no reason to overlook the impressive performance and style of the 2019 models. The 2019 Chevy Colorado is a perfect choice for anyone looking for a mid-size pickup, offering excellent performance and power at a smaller size. An available Duramax 2.8L Turbo Diesel engine offers up to 369 lb.-ft. of torque for a maximum towing capacity of up to 7,700 lbs. That is a remarkable performance for a mid-size pickup.
From utility racks to bicycle carriers, there are a wide range of accessories and options you can get with the 2019 Colorado too, which is not unusual for Chevy trucks. There are numerous trim levels available, including the rugged ZR2, which is designed with off-roading and hitting the trail in mind. The ZR2 has front and rear electronic-locking differentials and a purpose-built off-road suspension that makes it a dream to take off-road.
Of course, if you need more power, then the all-new 2019 Chevy Silverado 1500 is a perfect choice. This is a gorgeous full-size pickup that was completely redesigned and overhauled for 2019, which is why you do not see many new features on the 2020 model. There are numerous engine and powertrain configurations available on this pickup, so you can get one that is exactly right for the kind of work you need. Whether you want unbelievable power from the 6.2L V8 with dynamic fuel management, or you prefer the sportier 2.7L Turbo with active fuel management, there is an engine option perfect for pretty much everyone.
The available drive mode selector makes it easy to go from dry roads to slippery terrain, and even off-road without skipping a beat. When properly equipped, you get a maximum towing capacity of up to 12,200 lbs and you can get more than 62 cu.ft. of storage in the bed of the 2019 Silverado 1500. Unless you need a heavy-duty model, this is the full-size pickup that can get pretty much anything you want done.
With the major overhaul of the 2020 model coming, it can be easy to overlook the 2019 Chevy Silverado HD series, but that is a mistake. The 2019 models are excellent Chevy trucks that offer tremendous power and performance. With maximum available horsepower of 445 hp and maximum available torque of up to 910 lb.-ft. these trucks can handle anything you throw at them. With the available Duramax 6.6L Turbo-Diesel V8 engine, the 3500HD has a maximum towing capacity of up 23,100 lbs. – ideal for any kind of work you need to get done.
Safety features and interior tech options on these Chevy trucks are also very impressive, though they lack the new transmissions coming with the 2020 HD series. Ultimately, you should consider both the 2019 models and the upcoming 2020 pickups from Chevy. You really cannot go wrong with either, and your choice should come down to your budget, timeline, and the features you really need.
